Sometimes I ask myself why I chose this field of study. It actually was not my first choice. I originally wanted to be a computer science major, but my heart was not in it so I remembered that a friend of mine was a IMM major and I thought, "Hey, that sounds fun. Maybe I'll try that." After my first class I was hooked. I can still remember doing my first project for IMM 120: Introduction to Interactive Computing. I became so engrossed in it, that I no longer cared about the grade. Even after it was basically done I kept adding little features like start and reset buttons. The same was true with my final project. I couldn't remember a time when I had so much fun doing work for a class. Sure it was a little challenging, but each challenge was something I had to conquer in order to get the project to run the way I wanted it to.
The next class I took was IMM 110: Introduction to Digital Media. Most of the class was using Photoshop which is something that I always wanted to learn how to use, but for one reason or another didn't have the time (or the program). This class sealed the deal for me as an IMM major. Not only did I get to use the program that I always wanted to learn, but I also had fun doing it. Sure the work was tedious at times, but in the end I was proud of the work that I did.
In the end I'm happy that I made the switch from Computer Science to IMM, I'm sure that the road ahead of me will be a tough one, but I know I'll enjoy the challenge and will have a career that I enjoy.
